There are many variables in the process of Saggar firing, which allows me to play and explore. When
all the elements co-operate they have proven to produce beautiful rich patterns and colour that have an earthy organic feel
to them. I love to use this type of firing because it really exposes the form and the clay- all the material soak into
the clay surface unlike a glaze that covers up the surface. It is always exciting to open the kiln and not know what
to expect!
